Digital payments through UPI can be hindered by slow internet. A new feature aims to address this issue. The transaction process will utilize the merchant's internet connection, eliminating the need for a customer's device to have a stable connection.

Customers will be able to make payments by holding their NFC-enabled smartphone close to a point-of-sale machine or smart tag. This method is similar to using a contactless credit card.

Further information on this feature, including its launch and availability, can be found through the Reserve Bank of India and the National Payments Corporation of India, which introduced the service at a recent fintech event.
