The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited has stepped up efforts to combat power theft. Following directions from a chief engineer, a campaign was launched across the company's jurisdiction. As part of this drive, 22 cases of power theft were detected, involving a significant amount of electricity.

The detected cases involved 1,90,757 units of electricity worth ₹76.85 lakh. Officials guided the special drive, which included inspections of electricity connections. The inspections led to the detection of power theft under a specific section of the Electricity Act.
