Civic officials and experts are working together to create a safer environment. A campaign aims to make a metropolis more pedestrian-friendly. So far, efforts have resulted in around 246 km of footpaths being cleared of obstructions. This work has been done at 1,711 locations.

The campaign's first phase has targeted a specific number of footpaths for encroachment removal. Work is already underway on some of these. Further details about the campaign's progress and goals are available.

Action has been taken across all civic wards as part of this initiative, which is being implemented in accordance with certain directions to remove unauthorised encroachments and make footpaths obstruction-free.
